David Andersen was born in a pastor’s home, the sixth of seven children raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After receiving Christ in high school, David desired to be used of the Lord. In a hunger to know God's Word and prepare for ministry, he attended Bible college, graduating in 1986. He was ordained while serving with his father as youth pastor. In 1996, he moved to California to attend the Master's Seminary. His greatest joy there was the gift of his wonderful wife, Eunjoo, in January of 1999. He graduated from seminary in May of 2001.
David originally considered foreign missions, but when introduced to the vision of serving in the capitol, he studied the ministry of the Apostle Paul. In that initial study, he found that Paul was commissioned to bear the Christ’s name before "Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel" in Acts 9:15. Then, after discovering that all (but four) cities where Paul chose to minister were capitols in fulfillment of his commission and that Paul took his name from the first king he won to Christ, David began to get excited about a ministry to government leaders.
He became fully convinced of a biblical calling through the first exhortation and priority for the Church: "I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence; for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who desires all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (I Timothy 2:1-4).
David embraces the twofold emphasis of the Apostles in their ministry as presented in Acts 6:4, “We will give ourselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word.” That two-fold emphasis is fulfilled by the second half of the year ministering in churches, igniting the passion of God’s people in prayer for their leaders and the first half of the year ministering to our Virginia leaders in weekly Bible studies. This year he has completed an expositional study of the book of Matthew, presenting the King of Kings to our kings or political leaders of the state of Virginia. He enjoyed the "Mountiantop of Matthew" in his final study on the Great Commission, and is now studying the only prophet in the Old Testament who refused to fulfill his commission, Jonah. Of course, it is this little book that presents the greatest revival in the history of the world, occuring in a capital and beginning with a king! After Jonah, he plans to study the book of history in the New Testament, addressed to a Governor. He is so thankful for the partnership in ministry that Eunjoo provides in the capitol, as well as the wonderful assistance of Larry Mason and John Payne.
